Lake Dillon Fire-Rescue's Community Services Bureau is responsible for enforcing International Fire Code regulations governing construction activity in Summit County, with the exception of The Town of Breckenridge and Copper Mountain. In addition to receiving, reviewing and conducting inspections for construction applications, the Community Services Bureau also maintains a robust educational, public outreach a program that includes car seat inspections, juvenile firesetter education, fire extinguisher training and other activities. The following procedures and regulations apply to all construction-related permit activities under the jurisdiction of Lake Dillon Fire-Rescue. Check the "Downloads" box at right for up-to-date revisions, notices or specific information that may affect your permit. Current Codes/Policies:

• 2006 International Fire Code and adopted Summit County Amendments
• Current edition of: NFPA 13, 13R, 13D (Sprinkler)
• Current edition of: NFPA 72 (Fire Alarms)
• Summit County Fire Alarm and Extinguishing Systems Policy

Permits:

• A Fire Department Permit is required for all tenant finishes, remodels, new construction (including residential with three or more attached dwelling units), fire detection and suppression systems, and permits required by the currently adopted fire code as amended.
• When work has been started without the receipt of a permit, the permit fee will be doubled.
• The permit shall be paid at the time of submittal drop off.
• All fire department permits shall be maintained on the site of permitted work
• Lost permits will be subject to a reissuing fee of $25
  

Inspections:

• The Inspection Request Line must be utilized 48 hours in advance for an official request. All other requests may not be honored. The number is: (970) 262-5215.
• Each permitted contractor shall call in their own inspections
• Fire sprinkler and alarm finals shall be coordinated and scheduled for the same time.
• Any incomplete inspections will be subject to a reinspection fee.
• Any inspection, which has not been cancelled within an appropriate time frame, will be subject to a reinspection fee.
• Any contractor requesting an inspection must provide the necessary testing supplies.
• NO work shall be performed without an approved set of plans.
• All piping and wiring must be visible in order for us to do a proper inspection.
• Certification letters are required before any system receives final approval.
  

Drawings:

• Two sets of drawings of appropriate size (“C” size 24”x36” preferred) shall be submitted.
• Acceptable scale is 1/8” minimum
• Name, address, and telephone number of owner representative and installing contractor shall be furnished with drawings.
• Name, physical and mailing address of project shall also be furnished with drawings.
• Contractors license classification and number shall be stamped on drawings.
• Equipment data sheets for each device must be submitted with applicable information highlighted.
• State of Colorado Division of Fire Safety, Plan Registration Form shall accompany all sprinkler submittals.
• All symbols are preferred to be per NFPA 170.
• Ceiling heights and ceiling detail shall be shown.
• Square footage shall be shown.
• Any missing or inaccurate information may lead to the rejection of the plans and a resubmitted fee will be charged.
